Welcome to Nrithapriya Dance Academy

Nrithapriya Dance Academy was founded in 2008. Nrithapriya has proved their excellence in classical dance through a series of stage performances all over India. Our objective is to unveil the hidden talents & nurture them to become performer dancers.

Priya Kishore Performer, is the director of Nrithapriya Dance Academy where she teaches, choreographes & create new dance.

Regular classes : Friday 3pm to 6pm & Saturday 9am to 12pm
Classes In CSA Auditorium : Saturday & Sunday at 3pm to 6pm
Special classes are available for NRIs on prior appointments.

About Me

Priya Kishore Performer, is the director of Nrithapriya Dance Academy where teach, choreograph and create new dances. Began the dance at the age of 10, trained Bharathanatyam under Guru Sarala, Mohiniyattam & Bharathanatyam under Guru Kalamandalam Rajalakshmi. After completing graduation in BA Economics, continuing training under Guru Kalamandalam Shegind. Also got trained Kuzhipudy from Sri Madhava Reddy Murti, disciple of Vempati Chinna Satyam.

Bharathanatyam

Bharathanatyam is a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu. It was described in the treatise Natya Shastra by Bharata around the beginning of the common era. Bharata Natyam is known for its grace, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque poses. Lord Shiva in his Nataraja form is considered the God of this dance.

Mohiniyaattam

Mohiniyattam is a classical dance form from Kerala, India. Believed to have originated in 16th century. It is one of the eight Indian classical dance forms recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. It is considered a very graceful form of dance meant to be performed as solo recitals by women.

Kuchupudi

Kuchipudi is a Classical Indian dance from Andhra Pradesh, India. It is also popular all over South India. Kuchipudi is the name of a village in the Divi Taluka of Krishna district that borders the Bay of Bengal. According to legend, an orphan named Siddhendra Yogi is considered to be the founder of the Kuchipudi dance-drama tradition.

Semi classical dance

This type of dance breaks the stylized structures and forms of the classical dance, and adopts a more contemporary feel and steps. All along the ethos of the basic dance remains intact. Semi classical is the combination of classical dance performed on any Bhajans and Ghazals.

Folk Dance

A folk dance is developed by people that reflect the life of the people of a certain country or region. Not all ethnic dances are folk dances. For example, ritual dances or dances of ritual origin are not considered to be folk dances. Ritual dances are usually called "Religious dances" because of their purpose.

Dance Fitness Programs For Ladies (Age: 30+)

Nrithapriya offers a chance for all those who could not pursue their passion and love for dance that they had in their younger days. Dance with yoga has physical and mental health benefits. Dance yoga is a style of yoga that combines fluid movement with music into a yoga practice.
